Epzen

MEET THE NO-BS APPROACH TO SELF-CARE.

epzen are bringing wellness back down to earth with real world rituals that don’t ask you to do better or be more. They can’t do your laundry, but they can treat your body to a little TLC with a range of natural scrubs, bubble bath, in-shower moisturisers, body washes and bath salts.

epzen knows it is what’s on the inside that counts. They don’t use parabens, PEGs, sulphates and synthetic fragrances. And get bonus points for being cruelty free, vegan, Australian made and owned.

epzen believe in taking responsibility for their waste and go the extra mile to ensure their products, cartons, shipping boxes and marketing materials are recyclable wherever possible. As members of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), they will continue to uncover how we can minimise their environmental footprint wherever possible.

epzen products are proudly offered as carbon neutral through the NoCO2 Program Carbon Neutral Product certification.

CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION:

All epzen Australia products are certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) under the NoCO2 Program. To achieve Carbon Neutral Product certification, epzen Australia undertook the following process:

  1. Commissioned a Life Cycle Assessment of their products from CRI to quantify the carbon footprint of their products. CRI’s assessment relied upon delivery-specific data from epzen Australia, as well as published sources of relevant data and emissions factors.  CRI’s Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology follows the standards outlined by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (1), as well as the series of international standards for LCAs: ISO 14040 and ISO 14044.
  2. Committed to offset the emissions associated with their products through the purchase of units in approved projects under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) or Gold Standard (GS) on a quarterly basis, and
  3. Committed to ongoing reporting and auditing of their product emissions through quarterly sales reporting.

WHAT DOES CARBON NEUTRAL PRODUCT CERTIFICATION MEAN?

By meeting the requirements of the NoCO2 Program, epzen products are certified as Carbon Neutral Products by CRI; can be promoted and marketed as such and can display the Carbon Neutral Product Logo issued by CRI.  Carbon neutral certification ensures that net zero emissions have been achieved.

WHAT CARBON CREDIT PROJECTS DOES EPZEN PURCHASE CARBON CREDITS FROM?

Nearly three billion people around the world burn wood, charcoal, animal dung, or coal in open fires or in inefficient stoves and without a chimney for daily cooking and heating. This reliance on inefficient cookstoves and fuels leads to a wide variety of environmental problems including deforestation, air pollution, climate change and health. Daily exposure to toxic smoke from traditional cooking practices is one of the world’s biggest, but least well-known killers.

Penetrating deep into the lungs of its victims, this acrid smoke causes a range of deadly chronic and acute health effects such as pneumonia, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and heart disease, as well as low birth-weights in children born to mothers whose pregnancies are spent breathing toxic fumes from traditional cookstoves. Women and children must risk their safety, health, and sometimes their lives, to search for and collect firewood in order to cook food over smoky, polluting open fires.

The Cookstoves in Developing Nations project disseminates efficient wood and charcoal cook stoves and water filters to reduce dependency on traditional biomass fuels. Replacing traditional cook stoves with fuel efficient stoves and water filters in households and restaurants reduces greenhouse gas emissions, relieves pressure on local forests and assists in reducing the incidence of chronic respiratory disease, improving livelihoods in poor communities.

Cookstoves in Developing Nations sources Verified Carbon Standard and Gold Standard carbon credits from the following locations:

  • Central and South America
  • Africa
  • Southeast Asia
  • China
