 Business Overview

Instyle is a wholesale supplier of high-quality textiles, leathers, wallcoverings + acoustic solutions made with integrity, born in Australia, represented and inspired globally.  We are a longstanding supporter of Australian design and manufacturing, with most of our textiles and acoustic products made locally.

Instyle’s inhouse textile and acoustic design studios create high quality, contemporary interior finishes, founded on a design philosophy of simplicity, elegance, practicality, comfort and attention to detail.

Instyle believes in a genuine, practical and holistic approach to sustainability. We’ve been honoured with many awards and shortlist finalists for both design and environmental excellence.

We plan to do the following:

  • Our emissions reduction plan targets key areas including renewable energy transition, operational efficiency, waste, staff travel, and freight.
  • We are actively working to reduce production and packaging waste and will expand local recycling partnerships to divert complex materials from landfill.
  • A priority action is the investigation of low-emissions freight solutions, starting with courier services, including looking at carbon-neutral and electric vehicle (EV) options as they become more widely available.

Regarding product, we will be increasing the use of bio-based materials to reduce fossil-based inputs and advancing product-level carbon analysis through our EPD and Cradle to Cradle certifications.

Carbon Reduction Claim:

Instyle is a LowC02 (100%) business certified by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) under the NoCO2 Program. To achieve certification and become a low carbon business, Instyle undertook the following process:

  1. Commissioned a LowCO2 audit from CRI to measure their operational carbon footprint for the FY2024 financial year (FY2024). CRI’s LowCO2 audit follows the standards outlined by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (1).
  2. Committed to an ongoing program of reducing and offsetting (100%) of their emissions within the LowCO2 certification standard in approved carbon offsetting programs, and
  3. Committed to ongoing annual auditing of their emissions.

What does LowCO2 certification mean?

Instyle have measured, reduced and offset (100%) of their emissions to the LowCO2 certification standard and therefore is a LowCO2 (100%) business. The LowCO2 standard assesses Scope 1, Scope 2 and limited Scope 3 emissions.  Limited Scope 3 emissions include flights, waste, freight and staff travel. Further, by meeting the requirements of LowCO2 standard under the NoCO2 Program; Instyle can display and use the LowCO2 logo and refer to their certification with CRI.

Why does Instyle invest in Solar Carbon Credit Projects based in India?

Environmental problems in India are growing rapidly. The increasing economic development and a rapidly growing population that has taken the country from 300 million people in 1947 to more than one billion people today is putting a strain on the environment, infrastructure, and the country’s natural resources. India’s air pollution is exacerbated by its heavy reliance on coal for power generation.

Coal supplies more than half of the country’s electricity generation. While India is fortunate to have abundant reserves of coal to power economic development, the burning of this resource, especially given the high ash content of India’s coal, has come at a cost in terms of public health risk and environmental degradation.

Solar carbon credit projects are designed to make use of an abundant renewable resource and reduce the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels, especially coal.
